Open Door Hostel is now into its 22^nd year in operation and continues to provide an 8 week emergency stay for young people aged 16 - 21 years old.

Most of the Hostel referrals continue to come via Young Adults Service based in Lammermuir House who we work in partnership with but referrals are often directly made by young people either over the phone or by presenting at the Hostel.

Before being accepted as resident the young person is assessed by Hostel staff and their individual support plan is initiated and the main focus is finding the resident longer term accommodation that is appropriate to their needs.

As a Hostel resident the young person is allocated a keywoker who will work closely with them throughout their stay. For quality assurance purposes residents complete questionnaires so we can find out there thoughts on the service and any ways that we can improve it. We also have residents feedback to us at the staff meeting about any issues, ideas or concerns they may have.
